Hi Gordon,

You’re right, Jesus wouldn’t have anything to do with political parties because he was promiting the Heavenly kindgom, contratry to what the Pharisees believed he was doing. I simply pointed out that although he was only one man, his words and works had a great impact on the lives of those He came in contact with to this present day.

The Pharisees, however, were back then considered to be a political party, a social movement. They were the authorities of the day when it came to religion and social issues… they ruled. Jesus simply pointed out their hypocricy when it came to their exercise of authority. They expected the people to obey the law and was quick to condem people despite the fact that they themselves break it. Kinda like the head of the treasury not paying taxes. Jesus exposed their ways and the people were beginning to see the light. Jesus was a threat to their political stronghold and therefore they plotted to get rid of him. He did effect political change tho, i.e., His church was established and that’s why we have Christianity today.

I know you call it the blues. I’m calling it the signs of the times. When you look around and it seems like there is no hope, you can look up… look up to Jesus… “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). God bless!

You can’t equate Jesus with political change. He would have nothing to do with TEA parties or Republican or Democrat issues. Right now, I simply feel we are lost. There is no Republican opposition, and the Democrats are following the lead of an obvious socialist/communist. To think otherwise is naive, IMO. It’s like the line from a Tears for Fears song: “The newspaper says you’re free to choose; there’s egg on your face and mud on your shoes; one of these days you’re going to call it the blues.”

I’m calling it the blues.

Hi Gordon,

Apparently people do care, that’s the reason for the tea parties. If you are talking about the government, you’re probably right. But then again they cannot ignore the fact that people care. When more people talk, their voice gets louder, eventually they will get heard, and soon someone will listen. If you stand for something you are doing yourself an injustice by keeping your mouth shut. Remember Jesus? He was only one man, but His voice was heard, and He changed the world. God bless!

Wasteful government spending? Does anyone even care anymore? If they’re going to take our money, they better do for us. That’s the social contract. Not than anyone has the umphh anymore to enforce a social contract.

Hi Gordon,

As far as I know, the tax parties were neither by Democrat nor Republican but rather by people who are fed up with wasteful government spending. And yes, Jesus did not have a place to rest in this world because He was from out if this world. If you know Him, you too will have a place to rest, on that day He takes His children home. The anit-tax parties are a joke. The Republicans act like they have something new to offer, some kind of a “solution.” And yet, Obama is only in office on the coattails of their failure. I used to call myself a Republican, but I can’t. I will never call myself a Democrat. I guess I am nothing.

Or maybe like Jesus I have nowhere to rest in this world (Matt 8:20).
